Hi friends, this is my second week in Springfield and I am having so much fun. Speaking of seconds, this is my second Tobi post, see the first one here. Below are some random thoughts about my outfit, my life here, and other random things!

  1. I love retro styles and burgundy so this jumper was love at first sight.
  2. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can’t wait to have my own online store when I’m older. I am constantly thinking about the clothes I want to carry, the girls I want to style, and the site I want to have. I swear I’m inspired by everything these days from Instagram to street style, other bloggers, other sites. I’m totally soaking it all up right now.
  3. I don’t think I have mentioned it on here yet but I am going in for round 2 of college cheerleading next year. It has been so weird not having practice everyday this summer but I am enjoying a little bit of extra free time. But I can’t wait to see all my teammates in the fall, I miss them so much.
  4. I am obsessed with Girl Boss, the Netflix show and the book! The clothes are so cool, I seriously wish I could pull off flare jeans and platform boots the way Sofia does and her willingness to take risks and ignore what others think makes her my actual spirit animal. She rocks!
  5. Springfield is so fun, they have some really cute boutiques and lots of cool restaurants, I’ll round up my favorites in a future post.
  6. I am babysitting some kids while I am here and they are the coolest, I’m loving it.
  7. I am obsessed with PLL this season, for any of you that are as crazy as me and like to read A theories this one is insane.
  8. I am sitting at Starbucks right now because the new apartment doesn’t have wifi yet, I got the peach green tea lemonade to try and it’s pretty yummy, would recommend.
  9. I finished the book American Dreamer by Tommy Hilfiger earlier this year and it was sooooo good. I love Tommy Hilfiger style and for anyone interested in fashion business I would highly recommend. Are any of you as obsessed with the Gigi X Tommy collection as much as I am because I can’t get over it.

Have a great weekend! Xoxo, Sam

Last week when I was home, I spent about 1/3 of my time at Brickwood Boutique with one of my favorite people, Christen. She owns Brickwood in the Indie House and it is seriously one of the best and most affordable boutiques that I know of (if you don’t live in the area just Instagram message her and she will ship). I’ve worn so many pieces from her store to events in college and I always get compliments on my outfit, plus the items there are always unique so it’s something that no one else has.

Brickwood is in the process of launching an online store (coming soon), and I was lucky enough to get to see a ton of the new arrivals and take pictures in them. When she pulled out this adorable off the shoulder top I was pumped. Lately I have been loving off the shoulder tops. I think they are really trendy and fun and show a little bit of skin without showing too much, ya know what I mean? The stripes and fringe are so cute, I know this top will be a summer staple.

Have a great week!

Hi friends! I hope you’re having a great summer so far. We finished with finals and cheer tryouts the first week of May so I have been home the past couple weeks hanging out. This week I am moving to Springfield Missouri for the summer for a job and to live with two of my best friends, Wendy and Savannah. I am so excited to see them and hopefully work a lot. There are so many fun things to do in St. Louis and last summer I was able to work enough to fund most of my fun/shopping trips this past year so I am hoping to do the same thing. I saw a post on Twitter a few weeks ago that said something like “summer in high school is all fun and games but summer in college is a matter of how much weight can I lose and how much money can I make in three months.” I thought it was so funny and true.

After finishing my first year of college I can truly say that college is the best. I have loved it so much and was genuinely sad when the year was over. Last year on my first day, we had cheer practice and I remember all of the returning girls running in and hugging each other and acting so excited to be back. I literally was thinking who gets this excited for school? I get it now! I have made lifelong friends and done so many fun things. Lately I have been thinking a lot about my first year and I am seriously so glad that my parents encouraged me to go away and I got the opportunity to live on my own and do so many exciting things.

I have been a Tobi fan for a while and think they have so many cute things and are super affordable. They even offer 50% off on first orders with the code Tobi50. They sent me a few items that I am so excited to share with you over the next few weeks. The first look is this pink suede dress. I love the shape of it and think it will be so cute for summer graduation parties, weddings, dinners, etc. Suede is one of my favorite materials because it adds some texture to such simple items. It is only $31 with the code Tobi50 so it is pretty affordable and can be worn to so many different occasions. I styled it a little dressier with my favorite platform sandals and mixed gold and silver to accent the mauve color.

I hope you have a great week!

Babydoll Tank: Matra’s Boutique | Giving Key Necklace: Philanthropy Cape | Purse: Stash

Hi friends! I hope you had a great weekend. It was my very first Mardi Gras experience here in St. Louis and it was a blast. St. Louis is host of the second biggest Mardi Gras celebration in the country and they literally shut down the streets in the old French District to celebrate.

This outfit is perfect for spring festivals and parties. I love mixing neutral colors and metals and think this outfit is so simple and cute for spring. This babydoll tank is from Marta’s Boutique, the sister store of Mod that I mentioned in my last post. It is so simple and easy to style. Long hemlines are my favorite and this tank hangs perfectly, plus the lace and zipper detailing really add to the look. I threw on a pair of distressed white skinny jeans and my oversized cardigan, both clearance items from when I worked at Aero. My sandals are $3 kids shoes from Old Navy, they are one of my favorite pairs that I own because they mix silver, black and brown and really tie any outfit together. I added some gold accessories and this edgy purse from Stash to add a pop of color and complete the outfit.

Have a great week!

Hi friends! I can’t believe how long its been since we’ve chatted last. Life has been pretty crazy lately. Last time I made a post, winter break had just started and family time and the holidays really distracted me. I did’t realize how much I missed being at home until I was back… No school, no practice, no responsibilities. It was like a mini vacation.

On January 5th, things picked right back up. I literally drove straight from my house to our cheer practice facility before I could even go to the dorm for the kick off of NATIONALS SEASON!! We got straight to work… I thought all star cheer was hard but its got nothing on college cheer. Fast forward to this past weekend we had our first performance to practice getting in front of a crowd, we hit our routine (for non cheer people that means we had no falls) and it was the highlight of my college cheer career (all 6 months of it). It was so exciting to see the hard work pay off and is really inspiring to get ready for nationals.

This semester I got to move in with my best friend Gabi! Since then, dorm life has gotten way better. Every Tuesday after cheer we watch The Bachelor together, we go on Starbuck’s runs, we get sushi, and we literally stay up until 2 in the morning talking. I know people say living with your best friend isn’t always a good idea but it is working for us. Its like having a sleepover every single night. Classes this semester are definitely harder than last. I am not getting to take as many business classes so I can knock out my gen-eds and I am ready to be done with them.

I recently got a job this semester at another boutique, Mod! I’m only about three weeks in but so far it has been awesome. They really had big shoes to fill because my last job at Philanthropy was probably the best job in the world, but Mod girls are pretty awesome and I think I’m going to like it here! It has been a great way to make new friends that aren’t cheerleaders and to finally get to dress up in cute clothes (I may have a fashion blog but I wear leggings and no makeup to class every single day). I am so excited to be working with Mod not only in the store but also on the blog! Everything I am wearing (except the shoes) is all from Mod.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Mod, they are a small business that started in Edwardsville IL and have grown to four locations (Edwardsville, St. Charles, Kirkwood, and O’Fallon). Almost everything in the store is under $75 so they are super affordable and they are always running sales! Be sure and follow them on Instagram and like their Facebook so you can be in the loop. The family also owns Marta’s Boutique which is a little higher end and another trendy option. And, if you stop into the St. Charles location you may see me every once in a while, I’d love to help you pick out an outfit!:)

In my break from posting, I have been brainstorming some exciting stuff for originalsamsmith.com! The first thing is, I am working with Sarah Christine Photography while I am here in St. Charles. She is super talented and I can’t wait to see what we do together. But, don’t think I have forgotten about my homegirl Emma because I’m sure she will be back with me as soon as I’m home for a break. And if you didn’t know, SHE STARTED A BLOG TOO! Be sure and check her out here, I am so proud of her and miss her so much. I am in the process of designing a newsletter so I can share exclusive content, my favorite sales, and get to know you better so be on the lookout! I made a new blogger friend, Molly Brianne! She just launched her blog last Friday and it looks fabulous! Be sure and check her out and be on the lookout for a collab coming soon. I love having such talented friends!

If you’ve made it this far, thanks girl! I am so excited to be back and I can’t wait to tell you more about college and my life here! Please reach out to me in the comments, on social media, or the contact page and let me know what you’d like to see! I post a lot of my college cheer and adventure pictures on Instagram so make sure you’re following me if you want to see those!

Have a great day and I will talk to ya soon, pinky promise!

Christmas Gift Ideas Under $30

Hi friends!  I am so excited for Christmas coming up! I seriously have not bought a single gift yet so I need to get started… We have this tradition where we all go the mall on Christmas Eve and split up and get gifts for everyone! Obviously procrastination runs in the family! I have been searching to get some ideas for people and found some really great options that I wanted to share! I’m working with a poor college student budget so I’m trying to make it stretch, so all of these gifts are under $30! Some could probably be wrapped under the tree but they are also perfect stocking stuffers!

Dress: Brickwood | Necklace: Sunkissed Creationz

Hi friends! I hope you’ve been having a good past few weeks! I feel like I say this every time but this time I’m being for real, I have been sooooo busy lately! Finals were last week and they really were not too bad.  Good luck to all the girls who still have to take your finals! Study hard, listen to Beyonce’s “Who Run the World (Girls)”, and a few years from now we can all be Girl Bosses together!:)

My friend Gabi and I are obsessed with Starbuck’s Pink Drinks (calling all the basics), and listening to “London Bridge” and “Downtown”. So it was only right that we drive around and jam on our last day together. I seriously can not believe my first semester is already over. It has been such a blast!

This chic little floral dress from Brickwood is perfect for the holidays! When we took pictures it was a lot warmer, but now that it’s freezing out, this would be perfect layered with some tights and a jacket! I added some booties, a maroon floppy hat, and a wrap around choker from Sunkissed Creationz. I’ve been seeing tons of cute art prints and new jewelry on their Instagram (check it out here) that would be perfect Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers, plus they are super affordable and customizable. If you still have a few names to check off your list, or you need the perfect Christmas or New Years outfit, stop into Brickwood and pick up some of these beautiful jewelry options, clothes, and accessories,

Happy Holidays ladies! We’ll chat soon.

Rust Off the Shoulder Top: Brickwood Boutique

Hi friends! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving last week and are getting in the Christmas spirit! I am so excited for Christmas break, it can not come fast enough! I am praying for some snow days when I get home so Amanda won’t have school and we can hang out at home like we used to!:)

This shirt is a favorite from Brickwood! I am loving off the shoulder tops this season and this printed one is so pretty. I paired it with a pair of cuffed jeans and booties and a choker on top. Since it’s getting colder, it would also be super cute layered under a leather jacket!

Hello! Who else is excited about Thanksgiving this week (insert the hand raise emoji here)!! I can’t wait to go home and see my family and sleep in my own bed hahah! This outfit is perfect to wear to Thanksgiving festivities! Our family usually goes pretty casual for the holiday so jeans and a cute shirt is totally the norm! This paisley top is from Philanthropy. The print is beautiful and the lace detailing is the perfect touch. Plus, it’s a really loose fit, perfect for hiding your food baby, hahah!;)  I threw on this jacket from Brickwood on top. It is pretty lightweight and easy for layering. To finish off the look I cuffed some skinny jeans, added some brown booties, and threw on a white cross body from Stash!

Have a great holiday!

Hi friends! I hope you had a good weekend! I did some shopping, ate at Fitz’s down in the Loop, and went to church Sunday morning… Oh and I caught up on about two weeks worth of laundry. It was so nice and relaxing to finally have a weekend off! This is an outfit I would typically wear on a weekend like this last one. It’s comfortable, casual, and still cute. Both the white t-shirt and slip on shoes are Old Navy clearance rack finds. Old Navy always has really great basics on clearance that are great for layering and mix and matching, I’ve linked a bunch below (just click on the image and you will be directed to the website to browse or purchase). I added some of my favorite accessories to spice up the basic white t-shirt like my orange purse, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Giving Key necklace, and a headband.

Have a great week!
