Dress: Love of Family and Home

Hello people! Who else is loving all of the fresh fruits and veggies this time of year? In Southern Illinois, there are so many farms that it is pretty easy to find at least one Farmers Market a weekend in a 30 mile radius. I thought this dress from Love of Family and Home was so fun for the occasion. It is such a soft material and is super lightweight and breezy for this time of year. A few weeks ago I went to a Love of Family and Home fashion show and this dress was styled with a black floppy hat, I thought it was too cute not to recreate. I love wearing hats… They shade from the sun, and cover a bad hair day, what more could you want? I added this simple Lucky necklace that I snagged off the Macy’s clearance rack for around 8 bucks. I assumed a lot of walking would be done in this outfit so I added my yoga slings. They are the best if your feet get sore after being on them for a while. And when at the Farmers Market, you definitely need a place to store some cash so I grabbed my Vera wristlet. I love that it is so small and lightweight, but has lots of compartments and room for a cell phone, which is great for shopping at the market!

Eat some fresh peaches and strawberries this week! Xoxo, Sam

Dress: Brickwood Boutique | Bag: Brickwood Boutique | Shoes: Philanthropy | Diamond Necklace: You Wood | Coin Necklace: For King and Country

Hey girl! I hope you are doing some fun things this week! I have been doing so much summer shopping this past week…. I LOVE summer, not only because school is out and the weather is warmer, but it is the perfect time to add some fun sun dresses to your wardrobe. This layered Brickwood dress is so playful and perfect for the season. I have been loving mix and matching prints and think the variety of florals pair together really well. The vibrant colors are right on trend for summer and this ensemble is great for any summer event. Because of the busyness of the dress, I wanted to style it with neutral colors and minimal accessories. I layered my two favorite, simple necklaces and threw on my beige purse to carry all of my “summer essentials”. These shoes are a pair of my favorites (read more about why I love them and see another way to style them here).

Hello people! Long time no chat! I am so excited to be back with a new outfit! This outfit is so comfy and perfect for a casual day. Plus, all of the items are clearance finds!!! Lately, tops with lace up detailing at the top have been flooding my Instagram feed. They bring a basic shirt up about 10 notches, I think. They are perfect for the days you want to wear something practical and still look like you put in a little effort. A lot of celebs have been wearing tops similar to this but they are typically out of my price range. I picked this one up  on the clearance rack last week at American Eagle for a little over 10 bucks, so I still get the “celebrity” look at a fraction of the cost. I have also been seeing and loving the distressed, boyfriend fit jeans and searching for a pair of my own. A very trendy friend of mine told me to hit up some of the thrift shops… I found these Levi’s at the Goodwill for only TWO DOLLARS!!! Literally two bucks. As I was scanning the racks I was looking for a lighter wash and something that would fit in the waist because I knew I was going to cut or cuff the bottoms. These were the perfect match. I cut all the holes in them and rolled the bottoms to make them a little more fitted and I think they turned out so great!

The platform sandal trend is one of my favorites. They really dress up an outfit and are much more comfortable than a pair of heels or wedges. I found this super chic pair at Maurice’s for $10. You read that right, brand new shoes for $10. I thought the olive green really coordinated nicely with the black, white, and blue of the outfit and subtle mixing of the different stripes added an extra element to look. This belt has been buried at the bottom of my closet for quite sometime and I am so happy that I found it yesterday. These belts are another celebrity inspired trend that I have been seeing on Instagram, tv, and in magazines. I think they add a sort of boho element to the entire outfit and are such a trendy accessory. I think I paid around 10 or 12 dollars for this at American Eagle a few months ago. The bag is my sister’s and it is also an American Eagle clearance find.

Does anyone else remember when it was practically fashion suicide to be seen mixing browns and blacks or silvers and gold? Thank goodness that is so not the case anymore! I love the mixing of neutrals, metals, and textures to bring the outfit together!

On a completely different note, how many Selena Gomez fans are out there? Well recently she posted this picture on Instagram and I thought it was so cool, so it inspired Emma and I to do a little photo shoot in Grammer’s Market, our local grocery store. Thank you so much to the nice lady in Grammer’s that let us take pictures, and if you haven’t had one of their deli sandwiches before, you might want to drop in! They are D E L I C I O U S!

Top: Stash | Pants: Stash (on sale) | Purse: Brickwood Boutique | Necklace: Philanthropy

Hi there! I have some very exciting news for all my fellow shopaholics! Stash is having a sale, and these pants are on the clearance rack! I think they are so charming and have so much character. The buttons along the sides and the flared shape of them are so trendy and the perfect style for the season. Because of the detailing of the pants, I wanted a more fitted shirt and something that was either cropped, or could be tucked in so you could see the embellishments at the top of the pants. When I stumbled across this top, I thought it went perfectly! The floral print really pops against the simple blue and the little bow at the bottom really adds to the look. Because the top and bottoms are so bold, I wanted to stick with simple accessories to bring the look together and make the clothes be the focal point.

Who else is ready for the weekend?

Several weeks ago I styled this dress a little dressier, but it’s so chic, I thought it would be perfect for a daytime event too! I love the fun print with the variety of vibrant colors so I added neutral accessories to make it a little more casual and tone down the busyness of the dress. The over sized, navy cardigan contrasts really well with the mod style dress. The solid color and the shape definitely add a casual vibe to the look. I replaced the platform sandals with my nude, lace up flats. They are super trendy and match perfectly with the nude in the dress and the style of the cardigan. I finished the outfit off with a fun fox necklace to go keep the outfit a little more playful and exciting!

Have a stylish weekend! Xoxo, Sam

Dress: Stash, Facebook \ Instagram | Giving Key Necklace: Philanthropy, Instagram | Purse: Brickwood, Facebook \ Instagram

Hi friends! I hope you are having a fabulous week! Now that the sun has been shining and the weather is warming up a bit I’m ready to break out the sleeveless tops and vibrant colors. This Stash dress just screams summer to me. The midi length is right on trend, and it is a modest, yet fashionable, approach to a simple summer dress. I think the buttons down the front make the dress a little more unique and add something special to the front. To go with my usual “blast from the past” theme, I added my favorite platform sandals and floppy hat. I love wearing hats because not only do they hide a bad hair day, they really “top” off the outfit (pun intended ;). I threw on this pretty beige purse from Brickwood and my Giving Key necklace to add some more components to the outfit. The Giving Key necklace is a great conversation piece and is the perfect piece for any ensemble. The Giving Key employs people transitioning out of homelessness in LA to stamp the different words on the key. The keys are supposed to be flawed, unique, and special the same as the person wearing them. Philanthropy has a great selection of Giving Keys if you are looking to get one of your own, be sure and stop in!

Happy Wednesday! Xoxo, Sam

If you are spending the holiday looking for some fashion inspiration, this outfit is dedicated to you! The tank and poncho definitely make the outfit. I love that they are both made of neutral colors so you can mix and match them with other pieces you already have hanging in your closet. And, I think the combination of textures works really nicely together. The lace tank is so cute and a staple for any wardrobe! Not only does it look great with this poncho for spring, but it could be paired with shorts in the summer, or layered under a flannel in the fall and winter… In other words, you can get so many looks with this one piece. And, the poncho is super lightweight and perfect for layering. Plus the stripes add some spice to any outfit.

Romper: Perfectly Posh | Necklace: For King and Country

Those of you that have been following me for a while know I am OBSESSED with denim. I am just convinced that there is no wrong way to wear denim. And I think my second favorite thing to denim, is rompers, so this outfit is a personal favorite. This romper is so perfect for this time of year because it is so comfy, effortless, and easy to throw on. It would be great to throw over a swimsuit or for going to festivals or outdoor activities. But, if you wanted a transition from day to night, you could throw on a pair of wedges and accessorize a little more and you’d be good to go.

These shoes are probably my favorite shoes to wear in the summer… I love them so much I purchased them in black too. The bottoms are yoga mats so they are soooooo great when you have be on your feet for a long period of time. When I used to work in the mall, they were the only pair of shoes I could wear that my feet didn’t hurt after a long shift. Plus, they are so much cuter than a pair of flip flops. I snagged mine up at Journey’s for around $19, originally $42, so they are super affordable and if you check the clearance racks you might get a good deal.

Y’all know I love a piece with a story, and this necklace has a great one. This necklace is merchandise from the band For King and Country. It is an Australian one-cent coin serving as a reminder that you are priceless! It is a great reminder of your self worth and is the perfect accessory for many outfits, plus, it is only $10!

Have a great weekend! Xoxo, Sam

I never woulda thought that I was the kind of girl that would sport a pair of overalls, but in the wise words of Justin Bieber “Never Say Never”, because over the past few years they have become a wardrobe essential for me! They are so easy to throw on and they are so trendy right now, Julianne Hough is one of my personal favorite overall enthusiasts (how adorable does she look here?)! I love how simple they are and they give off a very effortless vibe. Plus they have lots of pockets and because of all the details, a bunch of jewelry isn’t necessary. I usually throw mine over a tee shirt, but I’ve been seeing them worn over one piece swimsuits (see Rebecca Robertson here), and I think I will definitely be trying that trend out this summer too.

I love to mix prints so I thought my polka dot keds would be a nice contrast of the grey and white striped tee shirt. And, wanted a pop of color against all the neutrals so I thought the maroon really stood out.

Dress: Stash | Shoes: Philanthropy, Sseko

I am so excited about this outfit. 1. I’m back at Stash and Philanthropy. 2. These shoes are adorable and they have an even better story! As soon as I saw this dress I knew I had to share it with you! I always love a good floral print and I think this one is absolutely adorable. I also love the cutout detail at the top because it makes the dress a little more unique and you don’t need jewelry to go with it so it is super easy to throw on in the summer. I threw my orange purse with it to really make the orange in the dress pop and I thought it matched perfectly, plus, I think the braided pattern adds a nice detail to the outfit.

These shoes are my new go-to. Sseko is a brand in Uganda that helps generate income for women to attend university. Your sandals come with a tag that says the name of the woman that made your sandals so you can learn more about her story on the Sseko website. The ribbon can be tied hundreds of different ways so you can get a totally different look each time you wear them and there are a variety of different ribbons that you can purchase to switch out for even more looks. So far I’ve been sticking with this wrap style, but I may try something new soon. If you have a pair, how do you tie them? They are sold at Philanthropy in Cape so after you check out Stash, head over to Philanthropy to get these adorable shoes!

Have a great week! Xoxo, Sam
